Town Day

Brest is one of the oldest towns in Belarus with its first record dating back to 1019.

The City Day is selebrated in mid summer, the 28th of July. The vivid event is celebrated all around the town culminating in a firework.

«Maslenitsa» starts at the end of February and lasts for a week. This is a winter farewell  and spring wellcome holiday. The main celebrations take place on the first and last days of the festive week. The word «Maslenitsa» comes from the Russian word «Maslo» which means «Butter». The key attribute of the feast is pancakes, traditional festive food symbolizing Sun.

In Brest, this feast is usually celebrated in the Central Park where various concerts and allcomers take place.
