Video As A Learning Tool For Teachers And Students

TOT courses “Video As A Learning Tool For Teachers And Students” of the ERASMUS+ CBHE PROJECT # 585760-EPP-1-2017-1-AM-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “CHANGE IN CLASSROOM: PROMOTING INNOVATIVE TEACHING & LEARNING TO ENHANCE STUDENT LEARNING EXPERIENCE IN EASTERN PARTNERSHIP COUNTRIES (PRINTeL)” took place in University of Porto, Portugal on November 12–16, 2018.

20 participants from the Belarusian, Armenian and Georgian universities have raised their level pf knowledge of usage and making video for the educational purposes. BrSTU was represented by Dr. Pavel Kachurka and Dr. Iryna Hranik. Experts in different areas strongly connected with educational process and videos acted as teachers within these classes.

Five-day courses included the meetings with university authorities; discussions with experts in integration of video learning and video production; self presentations; visits to multimedia faculty and labs; preparation of the project with own videos; etc.

The talks of key speakers where dedicated to (but where not limited to) the following topics:

  “Video as a teaching and learning tool” – based on the experience of Maria Joao Ponces in the context of dentistry curriculum.

“Video Use in Higher Education”Paula Silva experience.

 “Video as a Learning Tool” by Nunu Regadas.

“Tips & Tricks about video capturing” by the journalist and PhD student Daniel Catalao.

 

“Hands-on video production using Panopto” by Nuno Regadas took audience into the process of creation of own projects. As for BrSTU representatives it was the part of the lecture in System Software discipline which combined both lecture presentation and teacher talk on video made in Panopto software.

Visit to the special room for the recording of video lectures (so called One Button Studio) included deep description of the specific equipment and organizational moments.

As the point to which the integration of video in learning process can aim the university professional TV studio was presented to the participants.
